RARE Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner "Transitonal Model " (#16800) Matte Dial With Thick Oyster Bracelet! The reference 16800 Submariner is a so called "transitional" model, which introduced the sapphire crystal, Caliber 3035 movement and quick set date. Even within the reference 16800 there are two dial variants – glossy with hour markers surrounded by metal and the MUCH more desirable matte dial without the metal surrounds. This watch has the matte dial.
Case: Case is stainless steel with dimensions of 40mm diameter by 12.7mm thick. Sapphire crystal (first time on a Submariner). Water resistant to 300 meters / 1000 feet (first time on a Submariner). Original bezel and screw down Trip Lock crown both operating smoothly.
Case Condition: Stainless steel case is in Excellent (95%) condition. Serial number 888... (1985). ( Very nice serial No )
Dial Condition: 100% ORIGINAL (I even checked the back of the dial) black Matte dial in Excellent (80%) condition with luminous markers (aged). The dial is in good condition.
Bezel Condition: Excellent (95%) condition bezel insert and still turns freely. There are some light scratches on it but is expected from a 25 year old watch.
Bracelet/Strap: 100% ORIGINAL Rolex Oyster bracelet in Excellent (80%) condition. Comes with 11 links
Movement: Automatic Chronometer caliber 3035 movement just serviced and keeping great time.
Remarks: A really fantastic looking piece with a great condition for it`s age.Very collectable! Definitely an investment piece! This is a collector’s treat, in my opinion. The transitional Rolex sports models are interesting and historical watches and this is jewel among them. Comes with rolex box but no paper
